After bowing, the attacker takes one step forward and the defender takes one step backward, each assuming right Zenkutsu-dachi position.

1. Right Tobi-komi-zuki - high (lunge punch)

1. Move body obliquely backward and twist body to left to avoid punch while doing right 
Nagashi.Soto-uke (middle block) to avoid punch. Be careful to: 
 a) Move both left and right foot. 
   b) Present side viewing stance to the opponent. 
      c) Do Nagashi Soto-uke backward to help attack pass by.

2. Right Gyakuzuki  - middle (reverse punch) 

2. Simultaneously: 
Turn body 1800 to avoid punch, right 
             Nagashi Gedan-barai (low block), 
             left Ura-zuki (back punch) to body. 
     Be careful to: 
a) Pull target area (right side of body) back to avoid punch. 
      b) Do Nagashi Gedan-barai backward to help attack pass by. 
      c) Use energy of the body twist to accelerate the Ura-zuki toward the opponent.

             c) Do Nagashi Soto-uke backward to help attack pass by.

2. Adjust distance to opponent , Right Sokuto (side thrust kick) to middle 

2. Simultaneously to avoid kick: 
a) Step obliquely backward into Gyaku-nekoashi (reverse cat stance) 
pulling knees together to protect groin and avoid kick. 
             b) Twist body to left to avoid kick. 
             c) Do right Gedan-barai downward as if chopping between the kick and your right side. 
             d) Then counterattack with right Haito (ridge hand) and left Shuto (knife- 
             hand) toward attacker’s back (kidney and liver).

3. Prepare for right Uraken (back fist) after the kick.

3. Protect from Uraken by using right shoulder - closer to the attacker is safer for the defender.

2. Adjust distance to opponent with right foot, do left Mae-geri (front kick) 

2. At the moment the kick starts: 
a) Step in with right foot and do a right Ura-zuki (back punch) with Ippon-ken (one-finger punch). 
             b) Use left Ippon-ken to protect the body by hitting the inside of the opponents kicking leg.

2. Adjust distance to opponent.  Right Gyakuzuki to the face. 

2. Simultaneously: to avoid punch: 
a) Step obliquely backward into Gyaku-nekoashi dachi (reverse cat stance). Twist body to right to avoid punch.  Do left Nagashi Shuto Uchiuke to guide the punch backward. 
b) Then counterattack with right Tatezuki (vertical punch) with Ipponken (one-finger punch); Glide the left hand along the attacker's right arm to protect from a counter from that direction

Nagashi Soto-uke (middle block) to avoid punch. 
              Be careful to: 
             a) Move both left and right foot. 
             b) Present side viewing stance to the opponent. 
             c) Do Nagashi Soto-uke backward to help attack pass by.

2. Adjust distance to opponent;  Right Gyakuzuki to the body. 

2. At the moment the punch starts: 
a) Twist body slightly to right to avoid the incoming punch while dropping the right hand to perform right nagashi otoshiuke across the back of the punch. 
             b) Immediately grab the punching hand with left hand, placing the fingers around the base of attacker’s thumb. Maintain this hold until with drawing at the end. 
c) Punch right Ipponken to the base of the nose. 
d) Twist attacker’s hand to the outside (attacker’s palm should be up) to apply a wrist-lock while stepping in with the right foot and performing Yoko Empi. 
e) Use both hands to maintain the wrist-lock and simultaneously step slightly to right and pull attacker off balance to the right. 
f) Perform Kotegaeshi (wrist throw) by twisting body to the left while stepping back with the left foot. 
g) Using right knee on back of attacker’s elbow, perform an arm bar while positioning to perform right shuto to the face. Attacker’s arm should be pressed to floor with knee when performing shuto. 
h) Withdraw carefully while maintaining control by placing right hand on attacker’s elbow, thumb out, and keeping pressure on the elbow while backing away.

2. Simultaneously to avoid kick: 
a) Step obliquely backward into Gyaku-nekoashi (reverse cat stance) 
pulling knees together to protect groin and avoid kick. 
             b) Twist body to left to avoid kick. 
c) Do right Gedan-barai downward as if chopping between the kick and your right side. 

3. Perform right gyakuzuki - high as foot touches after mawashigeri.

3) Turn to right and perform right Haishu (over hand) Nagashi Sotouke and left Urazuki Chudan.

             c) Do Nagashi Soto-uke backward to help attack pass by.

2.  Adjust distance with left foot and perform right maegeri - middle.

2.  As kick comes in, step in with right foot and perform right shuto to the neck while twisting slightly to the left and using left gedan barai to protect the body.

1. Right Tobi-komi-zuki to the body.

1. Simultaneously a)shift slightly back and right to avoid punch 
  b)twist to left and perform right nagashi uchiuke to help attack pass by.

2. Adjust distance to opponent, do left Gyakuzuki to defender's face.

2.  a)Drop body down to avoid punch while performing hijiuke jodan - high elbow block 
 b)Step in with right junzuki-no-tsukomi gedan - groin 
 c)Twist stance into shikodachi while performing right yoko empi with the left hand holding the right fist to add to the strike 
 d)Cover the attacker’s right forearm with right hand and right elbow with left hand. Twist attacker’s upper body to right by pushing arm into body and pushing elbow to the right. Use right knee to push inside of attacker’s knee to the left. This twisting the leg and body in opposite directions will prevent an effective counter by the attacker.

a) Step obliquely backward into Gyaku-nekoashi (reverse cat stance) 
pulling knees together to protect groin and avoid kick. 
             b) Twist body to left to avoid kick. 
c) Turn to right and perform right Haishu (over hand) Nagashi Sotouke and left Urazuki Chudan.

  b)twist to left and perform right nagashi shutouke to help attack pass by.

2. Adjust distance to opponent with right foot, do left gyakuzuki jodan.

2.  a) Step right foot in while performing right tate empi to the armpit and covering attacker’s right arm with left hand 
 b)Simultaneously perform left haito to the groin while grabbing the left lapel with the right hand and using the right elbow to press the attacker’s left arm up 
 c)Maintaining the right arm’s position, step to the right, under the attacker’s arm, while twisting the body to the right. Step left foot back such that defender “backs into” the attacker’s body to put him off balance for a shoulder throw. 
 d)Perform a shoulder throw over the right shoulder by dropping the body and pulling the attacker, by the lapel, over your body.
